Alpine White Thunderbird Bass

Another bass ~~for sale~~SOLD. This time it’s my beautiful Alpine White Epiphone Thunderbird, one of a limited edition of just 500 ‘Epiphone Custom Shop’ basses in this colour.

This bass has had a couple of very minor upgrades which have improved it’s playability:

Front Strap Button moved to the neck heel area to improve the balance on a strap.
Hipshot D-Tuner xtender fitted to allow low C and D

The Royal Albert, Crystal Palace

Oval Tavern

The Oval Tavern will be under new management from October 2010. We don’t know yet whether the gigs and open mic nights will continue, but we are keeping our fingers crossed as the pub is a great venue.

Thanks to Graeme and the staff for all the good times.

Update: We have heard that Simon’s Open Mic nights will continue ~~on every 2nd & 4th Tuesday of the month as normal~~ every Tuesday. We are looking forward to the next one on Tuesday 12th October.

Fender Ashbory Bass for Sale

My black Fender Ashbory Bass is up for sale. This Ashbory provided the deep rumbling bass for the Runner on the Obviously 5 Believers CD.

Despite the diminutive size and cute appearance, Ashbory basses are capable of some very impressive sounds including from deep vintage bass guitar tones, synth-like bass sounds and a very passable amplified double bass.

This Ashbory has an Ashbory logo silk screened on the body and a small “Designed and Backed by Fender” logo on the back of the headstock. It was made in Korea in 2007 before production moved to indonesia.
There is no difference in how my two Ashborys play or sound, but I prefer the colour of my metallic blue one so this black one has remained in its case as a spare most of the time. The condition is very close to perfect as it has been very well looked after. The control cavity on the back even has the original plastic film protection still in place and I could find no scratches or dings except for a barely noticeable chip on the back of the headstock.

On this song, Pete used his Deering goodtime open-backed banjo amplified using a pickup made from the lid of a mustard jar.
